A treat that you absolutely must do is to dine in the spectacular Kanu restaurant which is the main dining venue of the lodge. Kanu restaurant is a very wowing experience. Surrounded by enchanting mountain views that enter the room through huge picture windows you will almost feel as if you are dining outdoors. The interior is also impressive with enormous log beams, delicious servings of Adirondack cuisine, a massive stone fireplace and an environment oozing with cozy.
Kanu restaurant is so out of this world, you will feel as if you’re on a movie set. Holiday menus are available via the executive chef which is a huge amenity for me.
For eateries of a still exceptional but more casual affair, there are other dining options such as Peak 47 and an ice cream parlor. Canoe Club Grill is located on beachfront Lake Placid and accessible via a shuttle service.
Onsite activities are plentiful year round with hiking, skiing, ice skating, golf, biking and numerous others that are perfect for the outdoorsy visitors. A really cool option is to visit the Canoe Club where water toys abound especially when it come to renting a boat and cruising Lake Placid. There is also an onsite spa that continues the rustic blends of the lodge and provides a serene atmosphere.

Asheville, North Carolina is one of my favorite places to visit. The humbling Blue Ridge Mountains will grab and hold a place in the heart’s of all visitors as will the Omni Grove Park Inn.
Facing the gorgeous Sunset Mountain and reveling in breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Omni Grove Park Inn is an artful clash of elegance, charm and outdoor savvy. You might want to plan a lengthy stay at this resort because there is a wealth of activities to indulge yourself in.
Onsite activities include a luxurious spa, pools, golfing, shopping, an enormous sports complex, history tours, tennis and area trails. There are multiple onsite dining options from dress-up formal to t-shirt casual and in-room dining. Another great perk to Omni Grove Park Inn is that this resort is totally pet friendly so be sure to bring your furry buddy along for the experience.
I highly recommend a day trip to the magnificent Biltmore Estate. It is short drive from the resort to the estate and well worth your time and money (tickets to the Estate are required) to spend at least a day enjoying George Vanderbilt’s majestic home and surrounding property.
An activity my family and I enjoy at the Biltmore Estate is bicycling the path from Antler Hill Village to the mansion itself. And let me encourage a visit to the winery located at Antler Hill Village for local wines and goodies.
